Sister Lewis of Leasowe knows as well as I do that his party can't be trusted with the pensioner's Winter Fuel Payment. Leading Tory MPs want it scrapped and the Tories famously described it as a "gimmick". I've no doubt that if the Tories win the next election the annual payment to pensioners will be a thing of the past. But Sister Lewis is having none of it! His increasingly desperate campaign in Wallasey has seen the Tories on the back foot and frantically tying to rebut Labour's effective campaign on the issue.
One Labour source told me, "Sister Lewis can rebut all he likes but pensioners around here remember all too well what the Tories did last time they were in power and they know, given the chance, the Tories will do it all again".
It seems it going to take more than warm words from the Princess to get the pensioners on side!
Well Sister Mary- How true. The Tories only want power for one thing- to make sure their pals in the City have an easy time ripping the rst of us off. How many hedge funds does it take to keep George Osborne on the road and in his habit.
