Champagne Daaarrrlings!

Champagne corks were popping at the Wallasey Conservative Association fundraising black tie dinner organised by Sister Sue 'roots' Taylor last Friday. Sue tried her best to raise (lots more) cash for Princess Leah's campaign fund but I'm told the event wasn't exactly a sell out and some local Tories didn't even turn up to support the princess at all! (Well, the dull Damian Green was the guest speaker so what do you expect?)

The surprise guest on the night however, was Sister Lewis of Leasowe. It seems the appeal of champagne (a favourite tipple of the Tory upper classes) was enough to lure him away from the bright lights of Manchester, where, I understand, he spends his time gallivanting on Friday and Saturday nights.

Meanwhile, another local Tory (who shall remain nameless) was complaing to a colleague from another political party that he had better things to do with £40.00 than to waste it having dinner with the princess!

I do hope the few that did attend had an enjoyable night - but where was my invite?!

  1. Oh dear Sister Mary- but then you would have been very uncomfortable in such an atmosphere.
Rumour has reached me even inside the convent walls that relations between the Tory faithful are not exactly harmonious.

  2. Isn't Liverpool good enough for Ian-too close to home maybe? However some younger members of the pack have been seen and indeed heard imbibing strong drink in several local hostellries-but I guess they can stagger home quite easily.

By the way- do you think Sister Lewis and Cllr Chris-I like leather coats- Blakeley are hoping for a job if Leah a.develops a brain and b). finds enough idiots to vote for her, wins the Wallasey seat.
